Our neighborhood traces its history to 1881, when two Iowa farmers purchased the land that became known as Garfield Heights. Many of the area's homes were built between 1890 and 1920, and reflect a variety of architectural styles, including Queen Anne, American Foursquare, Spanish Revival, Tudor, Ranch, and most predominantly Craftsman.
GHNA District resident, writer, monologist and KPCC Public Radio host of "The Loh Life" Sandra Tsing Loh, had her home featured on GHNA’s 2010 Home Tour, and wrote and performed this amusing episode "Don Booties" about the experience:
In 2016, GHNA held its 10th Home Tour featuring six distinctive historical homes in the neighborhood. We plan to hold our next home tour in 2018.
